Microsoft Predicted to Overtake Salesforce Within the Next Three Years

As a trusted and reliable Microsoft partner, Bond Consulting Services is thrilled by the growing evidence that suggests that Microsoft will overtake Salesforce within the next few years. For those who are unfamiliar, Salesforce is a cloud-based software company that sells a suite of enterprise applications and provides customer relationship management services.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and Salesforce are in direct competition. Over the past eight quarters, D365 has averaged 45% revenue growth which has surpassed Salesforce’s 28% revenue growth. In that same period, Microsoft’s stock-market value has doubled from $800 billion to a shocking $1.6 trillion. Comparatively, Salesforce’s stock-market value has only increased from $109 billion to $172 billion.

One possible reason for the shift from Salesforce to Microsoft is Microsoft’s vast enterprise reach. Microsoft has over a billion enterprise users, signifying that Microsoft can be found in nearly every enterprise around the world. Another explanation could be Microsoft’s hybrid approach to IT. By combining cloud technology with on-premise work, Microsoft ensures that all data sources and all apps are built to work together seamlessly.

Microsoft truly has it all. With its Platform and Software as a Service (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS), its public cloud and hybrid cloud offerings, its massive enterprise footprint, and its AI, Machine Learning, IoT and Edge computing capabilities, Microsoft offers the complete package for its customers. On the other hand, Salesforce is still working on integrating Tableau (a Business Intelligence vendor) and hybrid IT with its business model. This major difference caused Coco-Cola, BNY Mellon, Walgreens Boots, and Siebel Systems to choose Microsoft Dynamics 365 over Salesforce.

Salesforce customers are quickly making the switch to Microsoft Dynamics 365 due to Microsoft’s simple and seamless integrations. Salesforce is not able to keep up with Microsoft’s rapid pace of innovation which will significantly impact its future market leadership. Daniel Newman, the principal analyst at Futurum Research, recently shared to the IT community: “I believe Microsoft will be No. 1 by market share in this segment within three years”.
