More Reasons for Microsoft Dynamics GP Customers to Rejoice

Overjoyed ecstatic businesswoman winner celebrating the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP

It was only recently that we rejoiced in the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2019, aka “GP Next.” That release came packed with 38 new features, 38 reasons to rejoice. They’re listed in our blog entitled:

38 New Dynamics GP Features Arriving in October: It’s Called “GP Next”

But Microsoft Dynamics GP is like the gift that keeps on giving. I’m referring to what’s called the Modern Lifecycle, also known as the Modern Policy. Starting with the GP 2019 release, Dynamics GP will be updated three times a year: every October, every June, and again in the November/December timeframe. This is not just a huge boon for all our GP clients; it’s also a roadmap that extends out to 2024.  You can read all about it here.

Another crowd-pleaser resource is the Feature of the Day blog. To give you an idea of what content is shared on that blog, here are a few recent examples:

October 4, 2019 – Payroll Option to Exclude Additional Withholding Amount
In the October 2019 release of Dynamics GP, when you build the check file, you have the option to include or exclude the additional withholding for Federal, State, and Local tax amounts.

October 3, 2019 – GL Journal Entry Enhancements

With the October 2019 release for Microsoft Dynamics GP, enhancements have been made to the Journal Entry Inquiry window. The year drop-down list will now display in reverse order with the most recent year displayed first.

October 2, 2019 – Long Description Available for Payables Transactions

In Dynamics GP you can now enter a long description field for Payables Transactions. To enable this functionality, there is a new “Enable Long Description in Payables Transaction Entry” option in Payables Setup.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Here at Bond Consulting Services (BCS), we like to put ourselves in our client’s shoes. Right now, when we think about all the exciting news around GP 2019 and the Modern Lifecycle, we must wonder:
Are you thinking that it might be time to upgrade? This would the moment to consider 3 options:

  • Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP on-premise
  • Move your current GP from on-premise to the cloud
  • The transition from your beloved Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics 365

That’s a lot to think about. And we’re here to walk you through the PROs and CONs of each option.
